He was born on March 11, 1941, in Fernwood, NY, and was a graduate of Pulaski Academy & Central School, where he played several sports as well as violin and piano.
He attended State University of New York at Canton prior to working at Marine Midland Bank in Syracuse, where he met his first wife, Mary Ann. He later took a position with General Electric, while he served as an Army reservist during the Vietnam War.
In 1970, he began his long, fulfilling career at Syracuse University, beginning in the Accounting department on the main campus, and moving to Manager of Payroll at Skytop Office Building, until his retirement in 2003. He also was a season ticket holder for SU football and basketball games.
In his young adult years he enjoyed playing badmitton, volleyball, and basketball. But nothing brought more joy to him than raising his family and spending time with them. When his daughters were in marching band and color guard, he was an active parent volunteer behind the scenes, and he was such a proud father and supporter of his girls.
He and his family were members of North Syracuse Baptist Church. Over the years he faithfully served as treasurer, choir member, usher, deacon, and Friendship Class member.
He loved hosting get-togethers and family reunions at his home in Cicero, NY. In his spare time, he also loved maintaining his large yard and vegetable garden, and playing the piano at home as well as for church services and community functions.
He loved spending his retirement years in Florida with his new wife, Sandy, and surrounded by his wonderful friends in the Wesleyan Village. He and Sandy enjoyed traveling and attending classic car shows and Nascar races.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Sandra Webb of Brooksville, FL; two daughters, Kimberly (Dean) Fullerton of Kingwood, TX, and Cheryl (Chuck) Lysaker of Tomball, TX; grandson, Alex Fullerton of Montgomery, TX; two stepdaughters, Deborah (Dave) Schneider of Mexico, NY, and Kimberly (Bruce) VanAuken of Mexico, NY; four sisters-in-law, Betty Webb of Lake George, NY, Nancy Bowden of Camillus, NY, Lorraine (Doug) Kenney of Syracuse, NY, and Marsha (James) Wattnem of Bethany, MO; brother-in-law, George (Kathy) Stirner of Helena, MT; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is predeceased by his first wife of 40 years, Mary Ann Webb; his parents, Herb & Greta Webb; older brothers, Herbert Jay, John Wesley, and William Webb; brothers-in-law, Tom Bowden and Chuck Tagliamonte; mother-in-law, Marion Ciciriello; and mother-in-law, Bea Stirner.
The family wishes to thank his next-door neighbors and dear friends, Dave & Leslie Archer, for their ministry efforts during the last year.
His Celebration of Life and his burial will be held in the Central New York area, at a time and place to be announced at a later date.
Florida family and friends will gather at a memorial service on Monday, February 16, at 10:30 a.m., at Hope Community Bible Church, 13241 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL 34609.
