

Born February 18, 1927 in Brooksville, he was the son of the late Jeff and Annie (Barry) Wilson. He proudly served his country during World War II as a Seaman First Class in the United States Navy. He retired to Brooksville 28 years ago from Albany, Georgia. He worked for the American Can Company during which he lived in Dade City Florida, Delaware Ohio, Clinton Mississippi, and Albany Georgia. He was well traveled living in 49 states except Alaska. He was a Brother Emeritus Mason at the Dougherty Lodge #591 through the Grand Lodge of Georgia in Albany, Georgia and served as a Shriner in Albany, Georgia. Roy worked as a millwright by trade for many years and in retirement he continued his hands on trade in his garage. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Shirley Lou (Whitcomb) Wilson; daughter, Judy Todd; sisters, Marjorie Bragdon and Dorothy Wilson; and brothers, Jerry, John, and Pat Wilson. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Lotz Wilson of Winter Garden, Florida; sons and daughters-in-law, Bo & Kathy Wilson of Brooksville, Florida and Bobby & Lynn Wilson of Altoona, Florida; daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn & Rich Koenig of Chattaroy, Washington and Cathy & Larry Chafton of Leesburg, Florida; son-in-law, Emmett Todd of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; brother, Zack Wilson; 14 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
A Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00am-12:00pm, Monday, February 7, 2022 at Merritt Funeral Home, Brooksville Chapel, where Funeral Services begin at 12:00pm, with Pastor Joseph Chafton officiating. Burial will follow at Lake Lindsey Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Roy may be made to a charity of your choice.
