Uncle Jim, I again would  like to express my condolences for the loss of your wonderful wife. I remember first meeting her at Mom's (your sister's) She was a beautiful soft spoken woman and to this day I can still see the love in her eyes when she looked at you. In Memory of My Sister RuthI want to tell you the truthAbout my sister Ruth.We were close in age,So most times we were on the same page.I always felt my two sisters were the talented ones,But Ruth always affirmed me with tons...of words.Ruth was a real party girl,She would make a party for real.Nothing was ever too hard,She would put her head down and charge.I always marveled at her creativity.Whether it was decorating for a party,Writing a play, planning a tea,Telling a story to children, orGiving her grandchildren a job to do.Ruth was my counselor and confident,Telling me we were overcomers,Making me feel triumphant!Many of our conversations were about our Lord,And how we were walking towardMeeting him in heaven.She made it there before me.

I first met Ruth at Bethany Bible College, Santa Cruz, California.  I was leaving a classroom as she was entering.  I said, “Hi” to her and she said “Hello.”  I will never forget that moment in time.  John Keats wrote this:“A thing of beauty is a joy forever: its loveliness increases; it will never pass into nothingness.”And so it has been with my loving thoughts concerning her.  Her love for God has been demonstrated by her good deeds for others.  Proverbs 31 in the English Standard Bible says;10 An excellent wife who can find?    She is far more precious than jewels.11 The heart of her husband trusts in her,    and he will have no lack of gain.12 She does him good, and not harm,    all the days of her life.She opens her hand to the poor    and reaches out her hands to the needy.23 Her husband is known in the gates    when he sits among the elders of the land.26Strength and dignity are her clothing,    and she laughs at the time to come.26 She opens her mouth with wisdom,    and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.27 She looks well to the ways of her household    and does not eat the bread of idleness.28 Her children rise up and call her blessed;    her husband also, and he praises her:29 “Many women have done excellently,    but you surpass them all.”30 Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain,    but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.One Wednesday night for some reason I was at home from work, but on campus and I went to the Wednesday night Chapel service at Bethany Bible College.  Missionary to Africa Morris Plotts was speaking.He taught us the chorus:  “Wonderful Grace, Wonderful Grace, Wonderful Grace that Jesus gives,Jesus died that I might live.  Wonderful grace that Jesus gives.”I saw that Ruth was also in that service.  And after the service there was an altar call.  I said Lord, if you want Ruth to marry me let her be the last one at the altar, because I want my wife to be a prayer warrior.  And to my delightful surprise Ruth was the last one up from the altar.  Now there were many students talking with each other that night in the Chapel.  So I put yet another “fleece” out before the Lord.  If she is to be my wife, Lord let her come to the back of the Chapel where I was sitting and have her talk with me.  After a moment she looked up and saw me and made her way to speak with me.  For me that sort of “clinched the deal” with the Lord.But there was a transition.  I hated to wait for the day that I could take her to my church (about 3 weeks later).  I was studying in the book of Habakkuk one day and the Lord gave me this promise:Habakkuk 23 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.This promise made me to know that I must wait before receiving the promise.  I have never been disappointed in the time of waiting.  It was December 9th of 1967 when I proposed to her.  College rules said we must wait until that year was completed.  So we were married on June 29, 1968.Ruth has been my love and companion in the ministry until her untimely, unexpected, and sudden death, Wednesday, February 17th 2016.  I will miss her greatly as long as I live.  We have had many ups and many downs but she has faithfully been with me until her last breath.Ruth has been God’s gift to me, "too wonderful for words."  2 Corinthians 9:15 refers to Jesus, but for me it also is my feelings concerning Ruth:15 Thanks be to God for his indescribable (or unspeakable) gift!  Jim Kay

A GARDEN PATH was sent by Fran Hawkins.Jim, John, Rhoda, and Anna:  I pray that the Lord will give you the comfort that you need as you grieve Ruth's sudden passing.  And when you have no answers to all the questions "why," know that God is in control and is by your side.

Ruth was a very special person in the years we were friends as Grace World attenders.  I will miss the conversations we shared over life's little events.  I  will treasure the memories always!!

I'm sorry for your loss.  Please take comfort from the scriptureat Revelation 21:3,4 where it says that a time will come whendeath will be no more.

I send my sincere condolences and am truly sadden for your grievous loss.

Please find encouragement from these words:"For I well know what I am thinking toward you, declares Jehovah, thoughts of peace, and not of calamity, to give you a future and a hope. And you will call me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you." (Jeremiah 29:11,12)

I've known Ruth since I was a little girl back at Bible Temple in Portland, Oregon. She was always a bright spot and will be missed.
