Walter Cyr

After a courageous 3 year battle with cancer, Walter A. Cyr, 51, of Hudson, Florida, formerly of Sabattus, Maine, went to be with our Lord, our Father, Friday, January 12, 2007 at 9:50 am. He died at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Lewiston, Maine on November 3, 1955, the son of Alyre & Therese Cyr. Water was educated in local school, and on April 26, 1975, he married his childhood sweetheart and the love of his life, Barbara J. Foster. They had one son, Walter Foster Cyr, I. Other survivors are his mother: Therese B. Cyr; four brothers: Patrick & Barbie, Marc & Theresa, Maurice and Wendy, David and Michelle; sisters: Lynda Cyr, all of Sabattus, Maine and sister: Gloria Gosselin of Lewiston, Maine; and many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his in-laws and relatives of the Foster family of Sabattus. He was preceded in death by his father Alyre J. Cyr and a brother-in-law, Normand Gosselin. Walter lived to work! He started by passing newspapers, then at supersonic carwash as a laborer for Lucien Houle. He drove trucks and was a heavy equipment operator for his brother at Pat Cyr trucking, Harry Crooker, Gendron & Gendron, Bluerock, and Lewiston Public Works. He also owned and operated his own business, Cyrbo Trucking. His last place of employment was Gigliotti Construction Inc. of New Port Richey, Florida. His community involvements include selectman for the town of Sabattus, Maine, and memberships in the F.O.E.#368, Teamsters Union local #340, and the Elks. He loved trucking, fishing, hunting, cards, camping, and lived his life-long dream of going to Alaska and catching lots of BIG fish! HE belongs to St. Martin?s Church in Hudson, Florida, where a memorial service will be held January 27, 2007, at 3:00pm. Walters Funeral service will be held in Lewiston, Maine, followed by his interment in his hometown of Sabattus, Maine at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
