He was born in Columbus, Ohio on November 27, 1946 and came to this area 4 years ago. He served in the United States Marine Corps and later became a police officer in Franklin Township, Ohio and the Assistant Director of Security for Ohio State University. He was also a member of Disabled American Veterans and was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Judy; sons, Robert Lane of Plain City, Ohio, Scott Lane of Hilliard, Ohio, William D. Lane of Clearwater, Florida; daughters, Belinda Sue Lane of Marysville, Ohio, Wendi Flynn of Louis Centre, Ohio; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
