

Alvin Dennis Cason, 82, of Brunswick, GA passed away Monday Feb. 28, 2011 at Magnolia Manor in St. Simons Island, GA. Funeral services will be held 2 pm. Friday March 4, 2011 with visitation one hour prior to service in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Lamb, Brother Terry Carter, Rev. Todd Garner and Brother Rick Haney officiating. Interment will follow the service in Palmetto Cemetery. Frank Taylor, Jon Thompson, Cesar Grovner, John Lever, Jimmy Horton, Tony Cason, Sr., Jimmy Hodges, and Terry Hobby are serving pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Albert Henderson, Dr. David Heine, Paul Daniels, David Sylvester, staff and residence of Magnolia Manor, Members of New Day Christian Fellowship Church, Staff of Heartland Hospice, Retirees of Brunswick Paper and Pulp, and the Over the Hill Gang.
A native of Pierce County, Mr. Cason was born May 14, 1928 to the late Alvin Benjamin Cason, and the late Hester Walker Cason. He had been a resident of Glynn County most of his life. Mr. Cason graduated from Glynn Academy, and was employed by Brunswick Pulp and Paper for 47 years as a maintenance supervisor.
Mr. Cason loved God, and became an ordained Deacon at the Beverly Shores Baptist Church in 2004. He was also a member of the New Day Christian Fellowship Church. He enjoyed outdoors fishing and camping, bluegrass music, westerns, gardening, woodworking, cooking out, giving to others, and spoiling his dogs Angel and Noel. With all of these outdoors activities he was also a member of the Over the Hill Gang. He leaves behind many legacies and fond memories and will be sadly missed by all.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son Calvin Dennis Cason and his brother Julian Casey Cason.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty two years Juanita Cason, his daughter Jana Cason Hunter and husband Bobby, his son Kerry Cason and wife Linda Joyce all of Brunswick, GA, six grandchildren Richard Dennis Cason and wife Marion of Hortense, GA, Chloe and Claire Hunter both of Brunswick, GA, Sheryl Schear and husband Joseph of Guyton, GA, Dawn Yeargin and husband Deke of North Carolina, and John Lever and wife Gina of St. Simons Island, GA, sister Sandra Horton and husband Jimmy of Brunswick, GA, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
