Alvin Norman Young

Alvin N. Young, 79, of Hortense, died Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Hospice of The Golden Isles. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2PM Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Young’s Island Cemetery in McIntosh County with Rev. Danny Stillwell officiating. Born October 15, 1935 in McIntosh County to the late Christopher C. and Clifford R. Young, he was master electrician and had worked for Certified Electric for 21 years. Mr. Young had been a resident of Hortense since 1990. He was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed camping, carpentry and gardening. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Otis, William, David, and Julius Young, and two sisters, Joyce Delong and Elease “Pency” Davis. Survivors include five children, Bradley Young and wife Sandra of Hortense, Faye McIntosh and husband Don of Townsend, Cindy Skeen and husband Bubba of Darien, Crystal Williams and Don Nelson of Townsend, and Charlene Hermann and husband Matthew of Hortense, 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
