Barlow Franklin Mead Jr.

Mr. Mead was a native of Powhatan, Virginia and had been a resident of St. Simons for the past 41 years. He was the owner and operator of the Inland Charter Boat Services. He was a founding member of the Frederica Baptist Church on St. Simons. He made Mission trips to Honduras and Nicaragua.

Mr. Mead was the best dad to his children and was an avid, best fisherman.

Survivors are his wife of 51 Plus years, Janet Harris Mead of St. Simons Island, three daughters, Betsy Shaver (James) of Alpharetta, Ga., Karen Mead and Wendy Vazquez Galan (Victor) both of Brunswick, a sister, Sandra Etta Mecham of Chesterfield, Va., grandchildren, Lindsay Shaver Bolcar (Andrew) of Birmingham, AL., Daniel Scott Shaver of Portland, OR., Wyatt William Weiss of Cartersville, GA., and Jonah Vazquez Galan of Brunswick, and a great grandson, Micah Bolcar of Birmingham, AL.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 7 o'clock Monday 3/26/12 in the Chapel of the Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Whit Chapman officiating.

The family will receive friends in the Funeral Home from 6 to 7 PM Monday and request in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Hospice of the Golden Isles or the Frederica Baptist Church on St. Simons Island.
