Betty Jean was born May 23, 1939 in Darien, Georgia the daughter to the late John Oscar Thompson and the late Winnie Louise Thompson. She was a lifelong resident of McIntosh County. Betty Jean was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a homemaker and took great pride in caring to the needs of her family. She was also devoted to her faith and a member of Northside Baptist Church in Darien, Georgia. She always made sure there was a fresh arrangement of flowers at her church for every Sunday service. She more recently attended the Cowboy Church and enjoyed the warm fellowship with the members.
Betty Jean was preceded in death by her parents, John Oscar Thompson and Winnie Louise Thompson; two brothers, Vachal Thompson and Lloyd “Buck” Thompson; one sister, Joann Deverger. Left to cherish her memories are three sons, Howell Boone (Virginia), Greg Boone (Holly), and Milledge Boone; her two daughters, Nancy Evans (John) and Jeannette Boone; twelve wonderful grandchildren and fourteen precious great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends between 1:00 – 2:00 pm Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick, Georgia. A Funeral Service to honor Betty Jean’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 13, 2018 in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Bill Brown officiating. The burial will follow the service in Saint Andrews Cemetery in Darien, Georgia.
Betty Jean loved to spend time with her family and friends. She was always a caring lady that took food to families in her community that had suffered a loss of a love one. She was also a thoughtful lady that made sure her deceased love one had fresh flowers on their graves. Betty Jean will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family will have many fond memories to cherish for years to come.
