Betty Jean Sawyer

Betty J. Sawyer, 76, of Valona, GA passed away at her residence Wednesday, the 4th day of December, 2013. Mrs. Sawyer was under the care of Heartland Hospice. Services for Mrs. Sawyer will be held Friday, the 6th of December, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Northside Baptist Church in Darien with Reverend Randall Collins officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service time. Interment will follow the service in St. Andrews Cemetery.

Betty was born in Macon, Mississippi on the 14th of September, 1937. Her parents were Fred and Olene DiMartino. She attended and graduated Darien High School. Betty married her husband of fifty-three years, Reginald Baxter Sawyer, on the 17th of January, 1960. She spent most of her life as a homemaker and rearing six children. Betty also enjoyed going to the beach, boating, knitting and cooking for her family. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church of Darien, GA.

Survivors are her husband Reginald Baxter Sawyer; son, Clyde R. Sawyer (Barbara), daughter, Jimmie Ann Horne (Dale) , son Forrest Hugh Swayer and son, Fred Anthony Sawyer (Connie); eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Michael D. Sawyer and Claude B. Sawyer.

Active pallbearers will be Pat Brannen, Carlton Sawyer, Travis Williams, Kyle Sawyer, Daniel Sawyer and Britt Horne.

Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Heartland Hospice and Members of Northside Baptist Church.
