

Bettye Jackson “BJ” Webb died at peace in her sleep December 9, 2010. She was a native Kentuckian, but had lived the last 50 years on St. Simons Island with her devoted husband Lamar T. Webb. “BJ” was a graduate of Bowling Green Business University and the University of Kentucky. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. After two years teaching “Business Subjects” in high school “BJ” accepted a direct commission in The United States Air Force, serving as a protocol officer. She attained the rank of captain before retiring in 1957 to marry Lamar Webb in Zurich Switzerland. After an extended honeymoon in Europe the couple moved to St. Simons where Lamar practiced architecture. “BJ” became an avid “for fun” golfer and a Silver Life Master Bridge player. In 1960 their twins, Robin and Mark were born. During the children’s “growing up years” the Webbs were PTA presidents, sports mom and dad, etc. Later, they volunteered for Manna House, Casa, and the Literacy Program. They belonged to several social clubs and were founding members of the Sea Island Club
“BJ” is survived by her husband of 53 years Lamar T. Webb, A.I.A, a son Mark Maynard Jackson Webb (Renee) Of Rome Georgia, a daughter Robin Webb Galego (John) of Brunswick. Grandchildren of whom she was so proud and so enjoyed: Ailsa Renee Webb- 11 years, Drue Elizabeth Galego- 10 years, Sydney Webb Galego- 12 years, several cousins, a niece Cindy Jackson Mohler (Tony) of Nashville Tennessee, a nephew Terry Jackson (Ellen) Of Gross Point Michigan, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Baxter and Ann Webb of Palm Beach Florida., and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Faye and Dick Anderson of Savannah Georgia. Mrs. Webb was a member of the St. Simons United Methodist Church.

Arrangements are entrusted to Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick GA. Graveside service will be held Saturday December 18, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Christ Church, with Rev. Benjy Varnell officiating.
