

C. E. “Pep” Peppiatt, 91, of Sea Island, departed this life Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Hospice of the Golden Isles. A memorial service will be conducted at 11am on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at Christ Church Frederica with Father Tom Purdy officiating. A private family inurnment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery.
Born January 8, 1931, in Atlanta, Georgia to the late C.E. “Pep” Peppiatt, Sr. of Toronto, Canada (Vice President of distribution for 20th Century Fox) and Ethel Cannon Peppiatt of Tallulah Falls, GA, he was the owner and trainer of Peppiatt Stables. A true horseman whose every appearance in the show ring, whether as a competitor or official, accentuated the word “show”. He was inducted into the World’s Championship Horse Show Hall of Fame in August of 2007. With his induction, Pep added the distinction of his remarkable contribution to the world of horses, as well as his unique personal flair and commitment to quality that are the equal of any of the heroes of the breed and sport. In addition to his list of accomplishments as a horse trainer and judge, at his own Peppiatt Stables his award-winning horses were Dixie Wing, Bi Mi Magic Dream, Wing Solo, Lady Virginia, Sea of Secrets, French Wine, Carolina Shamrock, and Annabelle Bailey. He was a world-renowned judge, judging horse shows throughout the US as well as in Canada and South Africa. He was also an avid golfer and won the Lexington Senior Golf championship as well as numerous club events and more than a few high stakes wagers on the golf course. Mr. Peppiatt was a football player at Marist School in Atlanta, GA. and was a former resident of Lexington, Kentucky before moving to Sea Island in 1993. Peppiatt was also granted the commission of Kentucky Colonel in recognition of his noteworthy accomplishments and outstanding service to his community, state, and nation. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Ethel Gwylda Peppiatt and daughter Pamela Nanette Peppiatt.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Helen Robinson Peppiatt of Sea Island, three children, Marianne Dodson and husband Tommy Dodson of Middleburg, VA, Dr. C.E. “Pep" Peppiatt, III, and wife Jennifer of Lexington, Kentucky, and Virginia Schlegel and husband Joe of St. Simons Island, Georgia, seven grandchildren, Ted Dodson, Leah Dodson, Olivia Peppiatt, Virginia Peppiatt, Sarah Grace Peppiatt, Cannon Schlegel, and Lily Peppiatt, and a sister, Anne Peppiatt Lanham and husband Peter of Palmetto, Florida and Louisville, Kentucky.
