Carrie Evelyn Gibson

Mrs. Carrie Evelyn Wilcox Gibson, 80, a resident of Brunswick, died Saturday 7/16/11 in the Hospice of the Golden Isles.

Mrs. Gibson was a native and lifelong resident of Brunswick. She was a member of the Emanuel United Methodist Church of Brunswick.

Mrs. Gibson was preceded in death by her husband, Nubin “Huey” Hewitt Gibson, Sr., her parents, Perry Stuart and Mable Bradham Wilcox, three sisters, and one brother.

Survivors are four children, Faye Vaughn (Alan) of Elloree, S.C., Nubin H. “Gibby” Gibson, Jr. (Carla) of Brunswick, Peggy Crosby of Mt. Pleasant, Ga., and Charles H. “Chuck” Gibson (Teresa) of Atkinson, Ga., grandchildren, Denise, Vicki, Joani, Jody, Candi, Bo, Jeremiah and Logan, Great grandchildren, A.J., D. J., Lexi, Dylan, Levi, Keri, Parker, Austin, Cassidy, Bailey, Bobby, Kaydence, Dakota, Joshlyn and Anthony, a sister, Ellen Moyers of Brunswick and a brother, Tommy H. Wilcox of Pensacola, Fl., and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 3 PM Tuesday 7/19/11 in the Chapel of the Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Copeland officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Brantley County.

Active pallbearers will be: Dave Whitton, Leslie Rooks, Alvin Dixon, Eddie Overstreet, Pete Thompson, Gilmer Davis, O. J. Duboise and Dave Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be: Grandchildren, Great grandchildren and staff of Hospice of the Golden Isles.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 TO 3:00 pm Tuesday in the Chapel of the Funeral Home.
