Mrs. Campbell was born December 1, 1950, in Douglasville, Georgia, to the late Charles H. Pope and Iola Couch Pope. She graduated from Douglasville High School with the Class of 1968 and moved to Brunswick in 1969. Over the years, she was employed at Bill Jenkins Nursery on St. Simons Island, held several clerical positions, and later worked with the Glynn County Extension Agency’s 4-H program.
She frequently attended Golden Isles Church of God and other churches in the community, where she especially enjoyed revivals. Mrs. Campbell had a love for growing plants and nurturing her collection of beautiful bonsai trees. She also enjoyed dancing, watching old Western films, cheering for Georgia Bulldog football, and photographing nature—particularly sunsets. She loved connecting with her Facebook friends, family members, and church community, sharing encouragement and faith with those she cared for. Her greatest joy, however, came from spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Campbell is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Gary Campbell Sr.; her son, Wayne Campbell Jr., and his wife, Carol Campbell; and her former daughter-in-law, Theresa Campbell. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Devon Campbell, Rebecca Perry (Tony), Benjamin Rushing (Ansley), great-niece Logan Lloyd (Slade Harrell), and great-nephew Baylee Lloyd (Jayden); and great-grandchildren, Savanna, Rayleigh, Denley, Fiona, Trenton, Matthew, Carson, Amelia, and Abigail.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Ray Pope, and her sister, Connie Phillips.
