US Air Force Captain Clark Howell Cook, Jr. was born in Rutledge, GA on August 18, 1933 and passed quietly surrounded by his loved ones Sunday, April 29, 2018. Preceding him in death were his parents, Clark Howell Cook, Sr. and Mildred Oxford Cook, and his sister Ruth Cook Peck.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Evelyn Cook; two daughters, Kim Cook and Kathy Cook Sapp; two grandchildren Matthew and Mary Katherine Sapp, and other nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
A graduate of Glynn Academy, Class of 1952, Clark obtained his degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Georgia in 1960. He parlayed those skills learned at UGA into a successful construction business where, as a master craftsman, he built many homes on St. Simons Island before retiring in 1999. He was a giving, caring, and friendly man who never met a stranger.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Simons Island United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held by his family on Wednesday May 2 at 3 pm at the church with a reception to follow on the premises.
