
Mr. Laager was born December 12, 1924 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to the late Albert Laager, and the late Myrtle Paulson Munson, and had been a resident of Glynn County since 1956. Mr. Laager enlisted in the United States Navy October 13, 1942, serving during the WWII conflict aboard the USS Bogue, a class of escort aircraft carriers originally classified AVG-9 ..., and was honorably discharged in January, 26, 1946. He retired from Southern Bell as a technician after thirty two and half years of service, and was a member of St. James Lutheran Church.
In addition to Mr. Laager’s parents he is preceded in death by his grandson Richard Scott Laager, and two brothers.
Survivors included Mr. Laager’s wife of 68 years Kathleen Laager; three sons Richard D. Laager of St. Simons Island, GA, Clayton E. Laager, and George Christopher Laager both of Brunswick, GA; three grandchildren Mathew Laager, Christopher Laager and Leigh AnnRowe; three great-grandchildren Alyssa Rowe, Savannah Laager and Palmer Laager; and several; nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, November 29, 2015 at St. James Lutheran Church with Pastor Laurie Williams officiating.
