Dena Branch Torkildsen

Dena Branch Torkildsen, 87, a residence of Brunswick, GA passed away Tuesday July 19, 2011 at the Hospice of the Golden Isles. Funeral services will be held at 11 am. Friday July 22, 2011 at the St. James Lutheran Church 2229 Starling Street, Brunswick, GA., with Pastor Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Palmetto Cemetery. Dana Williams, Joey Cody, Derrick Cody, Ray Cason,Rocky Williford, and Tom Deverts are active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Torkildsen, Hank Klimp, Bubba Olsen, Preston Kirkendall, and Fred Coolidge.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening July 21, 2011 from 6 pm. - 8pm. at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.

Born in Appling County November 23, 1923 to the late Lester T. Branch and the late Lottie Nettles Branch. Mrs. Torkildsen graduated from Glynn Academy and retired from Sears Roebuck and Co. after twenty six years as a credit manger. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church of Brunswick, Georgia. Where she was a hard worker and involved in many activities in her church serving on the following committees the Bereavement Committee, Fellowship Committee, volunteering at the Manna House and Sheppard of the Church. Mrs. Torkildsen was also a member of the WELCA Ladies Circle of St. James Lutheran Church.

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, that loved family get togethers. She also enjoyed cooking for others.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Fritz Torkilsen, son Sonny Torkildsen, granddaughter Linnie Marie Williford, and her brother Frank Branch.

Survivors include her sister Eva Riffle of Camden S.C., two daughters Teresa ( Darrell) Cody of Brunswick, GA, and Rhonda Williams of Jacksonville Fl., four grandsons, Dana ( Nicole) Williams of Callahan, Fl. ,Joel Cody of St. Simons Island, GA, Derrick Cody of Brunswick, Ga, and Rocky Williford of Brunswick, GA . an granddaughter Heather ( Ray ) Cason, of Brunswick, GA, seven great-grandchildren Carlee, Addison, Preston, Zack, Spencer, Dustin, and Braylee. Her brother Carl ( Ann ) Torkildsen, and numerous nieces and nephews.
