Don was born in Salem, Oregon and moved to Brunswick, Georgia with his family in 1953. He attended Goodyear Elementary and Glynn Academy High School, graduating with highest honors.
He graduated from the University of Virginia, and the University of Georgia where he received his Law Degree. Don began practicing Law in Brunswick in 1976 until his retirement in 2021.
Don taught John Marshall Law in the late 1970's for two years. He served as "Of Council" with the Lane & Crow Law Firm, and practiced Bankruptcy Law within the Law Office of Bill Orange until 2020.
Don will be remembered by all who knew him professionally and socially by his soft spoken and kindly manner, a gentleman to the core. Professionally, he was respected for his brilliant mind and his near eidetic memory. To his loved ones, "Sir Donald" or "Papa Don" was adored.
Don always had a book by his side, and he loved his Kindle and Crossword puzzles. On weekends, he always looked forward to the Saturday "T" times with friend, Bill Orange and talking about the
"DAWGS". Singing along with best friend, Rick Brown, to the tunes of B. Springsteen and the 80's music were some of his happiest moments on numerous occasions. Don and Joan spent many times planning their travels together. Family times were the best!
Don was preceded in death by his parents Bob Hawkins Napier and Margaret Hay Napier, and his brother Richard (Dick) Arthur Napier.
Surviving is his loving companion for thirty-six years is Joan LaVine Sirmans, her three children, Teresa LaVine Stinchfield (Chris), Keith LaVine (Patty), Beverly Sirmans Gilkey and Joan's five grandchildren.
