Dianne was born in Alexandria, VA the daughter of the late Norman Elvin Croyle and the late Helen Bernice Hurst. She was a 1962 graduate from George Washington High School. She married the love of her life, Bill soon after her graduation. She served as Business Administrator in many medical and professional organizations throughout her life in Virginia and retired as a Finance Administrator with Fairfax County School Systems. After her successful career, she and her husband retired and moved to Brunswick Georgia. They became founding members of Life in Christ Church and were still very active.
Dianne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She was a devoted Christian lady that was dedicated in her Bible study. She was also a wonderful cook and her grandchildren will always remember GiGi’s sweet homemade ice tea. Dianne will be remembered for her bright and joyous smile. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 59 years, H. William Sweeny Jr; her son, William Sweeny III (Kathy); two daughters, Dianne Marie Habron (John) and Shawn B. Hendrix (Chris); seven grandchildren, Casey Kearnes, Brooke Kearnes, Brittany Hendrix, Connor Hendrix, Luke Hendrix, Chris Sweeny, and Joshua Sweeny; four great grandchildren, Ezio Prevatt, Everlee Prevatt, Bradley Hendrix, and Coen Hendrix; one sister, Sherry Sharp; two nieces, Donna Suro and April Garnett.
The family will receive friends between 4:00 – 5:00 PM Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. A funeral service to honor Dianne’s life will be held at 5:00 PM in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Kirk Brown officiating. The burial will be held at a later date in Brunswick Memorial Park cemetery. You are cordially invited to join the family in celebrating a life well lived with consideration of wearing a mask and social distancing.
