

Earl W. Stapleton, 89, of Brunswick, died Monday, December 9, 2013 at Sears Manor Nursing Home. Graveside funeral services will be held 11AM Thursday, December 12, 2013 in Chapel Park Cemetery with Father John Lyons officiating.
Born January 16, 1924 in Foley, Alabama to the late John and Bessie W. Stapleton, he was a Veteran of The US Army serving in The European Theater and the Battle of The Bulge. Mr. Stapleton was a Graduate of The University of Alabama where he received his BS/MA. He also received his Masters in Administration from Georgia Southern University. He had been a resident of Glynn County since 1950 and retired from The Glynn County School System in 1982, where he served as a History Teacher, Assistant Principal and Principal until his retirement. Mr. Stapleton was a member of First United Methodist Church in Brunswick. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and was an avid University of Alabama Football fan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Stapleton, a brother and a sister.
Survivors include his wife, Doris T. Stapleton of Brunswick, three daughters, Rachel S. Taylor and husband Andrew of Brunswick, Clyde S. Lyons and husband Hal of Tybee Island, and Carol S. Gainous of Brunswick, six grandchildren, Mali Lyons, Caroline Lyons, Megan Lyons, Chaz Vann, Rob Vann, and Jared Gainous, and one great grandchild, Ella Grace Vann.
