Edith was born in 1918 in Toccoa, Georgia, the youngest daughter of Emory and Vera Green. She spent most of her life in Atlanta, where she was married to Frank C. Dunham. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years and her daughter Nancy, who died in an automobile accident at age 32. After her husband’s death in 2007 Edith moved to St. Simons to be closer to her son John and his wife who live on Sea Island. Her interest in St. Simons was life long, and she often reflected on her vacations here when her children were growing up. She was a gifted cook with a passion for the Braves and bird watching. Edith took a special interest in hummingbirds and spent many hours on her porch enjoying the antics of “hers”.
A private grave side service will be held at Arlington Memorial Park in Atlanta.
Edith’s friends are invited to stop by her apartment on Saturday afternoon from three to four. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials to Hummingbird Research, Inc., 1520 Katrina Place, Montgomery, AL 36117. Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. www.edomillerandsons.com
