Mrs. Gronroos was born in Winter Haven, Fla. on Dec. 7, 1923 to the late Zipporah Bailey and Effingham Bailey. She graduated from high school in Smithtown, New York where she later married George P. Tobler with whom she raised three children. She was a homemaker but worked during World War II at Republic Aircraft in New York as a riveter. She later owned an art gallery on Cape Cod in Orleans, Mass. There she remarried Edward Gronroos and spent many happy years in the 1960s and 1970s. She lived in Brunswick with her son David since 1991.
She is survived by her son David Tobler, a daughter Kay T. Liss, grandsons Paul Tobler and Forrest Liss, half-brother Raymond Edward Case and many cousins.
She loved art and was a regular visitor to the art galleries on Newcastle St. in Brunswick.
Funeral services will be held at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home on Monday, Jan. 21 beginning at 1:30 p.m.
