Mrs. Evelyn Johnson Allen

Mrs. Evelyn J. Allen died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on January 3, 2015. She was a wonderfully wise, loving, beautiful, precious woman. She loved the Lord with all her heart and was welcomed into her Heavenly home by Him and many family members and friends.

Evelyn was born August 22, 1921, in Odum, Georgia. She was the second child of eight born to the late Henry and Nellie Herrin Johnson. She moved to Brunswick at the age of 7. She attended Glynn Academy and Perry Business School.

On January 22, 1938, Evelyn married a childhood friend, Adie Allen. They were married for 65 years. Together they founded Allen Termite and Pest Control.

She was a member of Golden Isles Church of God where she taught Sunday School for many years. In her later years she became a member of Christian Renewal Church. She loved going to church and especially loved reading and studying the Bible.

She is survived by her children, Henry Allen (Kathy) of Sparta, Georgia, Mickie Joyner (Buddy) of Brunswick, GA, Bobbie Carmical (Charles) of Dalton, GA, and Pam Hutcheson (Donnie) of Brunswick. Her grandchildren are Robin Peters (Tony), Janet Garris (Tim), Amanda Johanson, Spencer Joyner (Karen), Sandee Lukitsch (Bill), Chip Carmical (Kathleen), Lee Carmical (Molly), Joel Carmical (Maki) and Dane Hutcheson. She has 18 great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. She is survived by one sister, Vivian Aspinwall of Jesup, GA and many very special nieces, nephews, and extended relatives.

She was predeceased by her husband and parents. She is also predeceased by four sisters, Lois Johnson, Thelma Conley, Velma Meeks, Merle Blanton and by her brothers, Gordon Johnson and Eugene Johnson.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. Pastor Bill Ligon and Pastor Billy Swain will officiate.

Pallbearers are Spencer Joyner, Chip Carmical, Lee Carmical, Joel Carmical, Dane Hutcheson and Charles Brockington.

Burial will follow in Palmetto Cemetery.
