Evelyn was born in the Laurens County Hospital to parents James Marvin Manning, Sr. and Doris White Manning. The family moved to Glynn County in 1964 and Evelyn enrolled at Glynn Academy. It was there that she met her husband to be, Dwayne.
After graduation, Evelyn worked at RL Peck Machine and Tool for approximately 5 years then Brunswick Christian Academy for approximately 4 years before joining the staff at Hercules Credit Union where she worked as a loan officer and assistant manager. Evelyn attended the University of Georgia where she studied management courses and became an avid supporter of the Georgia Bulldogs. She was also an avid shopper and could always find a deal. In 1990, Evelyn retired to become a full time grandmother. This is the job she loved the most and enjoyed being “paid” with hugs and kisses!
Evelyn was a preacher’s daughter who loved the Lord. She was sweet, compassionate and faithful to her Church and God. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church and taught Sunday school on rotation. Evelyn loved her family and was so happy spending time with each of them. She will be missed dearly.
She is survived by her husband of more than 54 years, Dwayne (TD) Gibson of Brunswick; daughter, Beth Gibson, of Macon, GA; son, Steve Gibson of Brunswick; three grandsons, Adam Asbell of Charleston, SC, and Stevie Gibson and Brandon Gibson, both of Brunswick; two granddaughters, Kati Gibson of Brunswick and Taylor Gibson of Leesburg, GA; brother, James Marvin Manning, Jr., of McDonough, GA and her beloved English bulldog puppy, Trooper.
A Celebration of Life and Home Going service will be held Saturday afternoon at 3:00 pm at Northside Baptist Church with Pastor Bo Hutchens and Pastor Skip Wells officiating.
