Frank W. Laye, 82, of Brunswick, Georgia, departed this life Sunday, March 11, 2018 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 2PM Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Golden Isles Baptist Church with Rev. Shane Phillips officiating. Pallbearers will be Robert Tyndall, Scott Fleishman, Bobby Outland, Ron Fabre, Gavin Sellers, and Terry Sellers. Interment with military honors will be conducted at 2PM Saturday, March 17, 2018 in Carolina Memorial Gardens, Charleston, South Carolina.
Born July 13, 1935 in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Lloyd L. and Evelyn W. Laye, he was a 1955 graduate of Dreher High Scholl in Columbia, and attended Wofford University in Spartanburg. Mr. Laye entered into US Army service in 1957. After his discharge he worked for Albright Wilson Chemical Company in Charleston until his retirement. While residing in Charleston he served as Past Master of Franklin Lodge 96, and was a member of Scottish Rite. He and his wife Paulette then moved to Brunswick in 1990, and he became very active in Golden Isles Baptist Church. Being an avid golfer and all things sports, he worked for the Jekyll Island Authority as a golf starter for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Paulette S. Laye of Brunswick, a daughter, Kimberly Tyndall and husband Robert of Summerville, SC, two grandchildren, Scott Fleischman and wife Cheryl, and Sarah Outland and husband Bobby, a great grandchild, Harper Outland, two brothers in law, Charles Sellers and wife Glenda, and William Sellers and wife Mary Sue, all of Brunswick, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, March 14, 2018 from 6PM until 8PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
