Gail was a lifelong resident of McIntosh County. She dedicated many years of her working life as a certified nursing assistant, caring for others in several nursing homes until health issues required her to step away from her career. She attended Darien Church of God and found comfort in her faith.
Gail enjoyed simple pleasures. She loved to crochet, watch horror movies, and spend time with animals—whom she often loved more than most people. She treasured quiet solitude and lived life on her own gentle terms.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus Lofton Bennett, Jr. and Margie Moon Bennett; two sons, Brian Rooks and Clayton Rooks; a granddaughter, Briana Rooks; and a sister, Tressia Ann Poppell.
She is survived by a brother, Ricky Bennett (Diane) of Darien; two sisters, Linda Kirkland (Ronnie) of Cox and Pam Minshew (Billy) of Darien; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Darien Church of God, with Brother Tim Gardner officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will follow in McIntosh Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Anderson, Ronnie Kirkland, Jr., Kelly Lamb, Ricky Mosley, Donnie Roberson, and Chris Singleton.
