Hal was born July 7, 1946, in Zanesville, Ohio, to Harold Vincent Madden and Ada Madden.
He attended Henry Clay High School in Lexington, Kentucky, and then went on to earn his computer science degree at Western Kentucky University, graduating in 1969. From there, Hal was drafted into the Army and became a Huey helicopter pilot and spent his time in Vietnam flying missions of all types, from flying dignitaries to rescue missions for his fellow Army comrades.
He was a skilled stained and fused glass artist, as well as enjoyed sports of all kinds, but mostly football. He enjoyed living his life with a mission to save others from the grips of alcoholism and had sponsored many individuals over his own 35 years of sobriety to help them in their journey of recovery. You could always find him giving of himself so that others could succeed and overcome their struggles.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Beaumier Madden; children, Lance (Nancy) Madden, Dana (Alberto) Viglietta, and Tina (Eric) Wagner; brother Michael (Wanda) Madden; grandchildren Hayley Madden, Troy Madden, Paige Madden, Riley Madden, Quinn Madden, Hope Wagner, Grace Wagner, Faith Wagner, and Giulia Viglietta; and one great-grandchild, Lorelei Urteaga.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Vincent Madden, mother, Ada Madden, and sister, Kay Peyton.
A memorial service and celebration of Hal’s life will be held at the Clubhouse located at 1585 Cate Road, Brunswick GA, 31525 on Thursday, June 2 from 2 pm to 5 pm.
