

Harold Jerome “Jerry” Rose III, age 61 of St. Simons Island, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Southeast Georgia Health System. He was born December 11, 1955 in Trucksville, Pennsylvania, son of the late Harold Jerome Rose, Jr. and Barbara Rose. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Hillary Kristina “Kristy” Rose and a loving step-father to Carleigh Alexis Lundy.
Jerry attended Penn State University where he served as President of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. Jerry served four years as a Corpsman in the US Navy, then attended Emory University where he finished first in his class with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1983.
Jerry was a devoted Physician Assistant for 34 years at Coastal Cardiology, where he was loved by all. He was an integral part of the fabric of Southeast Georgia Health System. Jerry was a preceptor to many Physician Assistant students from both Emory University and Mercer University during his career. He taught generations of students and was a source of experience, mentorship and learning for many. Jerry was also a standing member of Georgia Association of Physician Assistants.
Jerry was extremely involved in the community. He served on the Foundation Board of the YWCA as Chairman, where he was also President of the Booster Club. While there, he established the Marvin E. Skelton Memorial Scholarship that is presented to a swimmer each year that exhibits citizenship, teamwork and dedication to swimming. He previously served as a Head Official on the national level for US and Georgia Swimming.
Jerry was preceded in death by his son, Zachary Burall Rose and his Grammy Laura Rose. He is survived locally by his wife, Kristy Rose and daughter Carleigh Lundy, in laws Gary (Jeannine) Share, brother in law, Dooley (Shannon) Miller (nieces Amelia and Emme), Uncle Paul (Jan) Jones (niece Haley and nephew John Paul). Family residing in Pennsylvania brother Kevin (Karen) Rose (nephews Kevin and Christopher Rose), Sister Mary Foltz (niece Lindsay, nephews Jason and Nathan), Brother Bob Rose, Aunt Joan Makowski and Cousin Sue (Jeff) Wallace.
Jerry shared his love of travel and saw much of the world with his wife and daughter. Jerry had a passion for life and his desire for learning new things was insatiable. He enjoyed boating at his River House in Shellman Bluff and was a devoted New York Giants and Penn State Football fan.
Jerry will be remembered for the love, care and compassion he bestowed to his family, friends and his many patients throughout his career. His immeasurable amount of selflessness, work ethic, intelligence and loyalty was a reflection of those that raised him. Jerry will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jerry and his family are eternally grateful to Dr. Lana Skelton for her mentorship, friendship and unfailing love and support throughout his career. His family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff who cared for and loved him at Southeast Georgia Health System and Coastal Cardiology.
