Hazel Tillotson Johnson

Jean was born Sept. 10, 1932, to Ethel and Lee Tillotson of Oneida, New York. She received a degree in nursing and married Dr. Mack Johnson. She has resided on St. Simons since 1974.

Jean was a member of St. Simons United Methodist Church. She enjoyed participating in the choir and sharing her talents as a worship committee member. She was a fantastic cook and enjoyed cooking for others. She thoroughly enjoyed the yearly music camp with choir friends.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Mack Johnson; son, Vern Johnson; daughter, Patti Johnson; parents, Ethel and Lee Tillotson; and sister, Dorothy Smith.

She is survived by two daughters, Laurna Herndon (David) and Susan Melanie Johnson; five granddaughters, Susan’s daughter, Rachel Johnson, and Laurna’s daughters, Rachel Courtney Been, Emily Been, Merrill Been and Jessica McKenzie (Will); and one great-granddaughter, Patti McKenzie.

In lieu of flowers, please consider giving a gift to Hospice of the Golden Isles. They were such a blessing to our family.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
