Hilton was a native of Telfair County, but had resided most of his life in Jeff Davis County. He was the son of the late Tom and Erma Bohannon. He was also the loving husband for over 36 years to his wife Helen Bohannon. He was retired from Continental Can Company as a timber cruiser with 34 years of employment. Hilton was a loyal member of Southside Baptist Church where he greeted everyone with a piece of peppermint candy and a caring hand shake.
The family will receive friends at Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home in Hazlehurst, Georgia on Saturday, January 2, 2016 from 6-8:00 PM. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 3, 2015 at Southside Baptist Church with Bro. Deek Dubberly and Chaplin Andy Williams officiating. Aleesia Crawford will give a warm heartfelt eulogy.
Hilton was preceded in death by his father and mother, Tom and Erma Bohannon; four sisters Ouida Butler, Nell Ursrey Hand, Willa Mae Bell, and Hattie Bell Davenport; four brothers, J.T. “Buddy” Bohannon, Weldon Bohannon, Vigil Bohannon, and Tom “Jr.” Bohannon. He is survived by his devoted wife Helen Bohannon; one daughter, Diane Bookhart (John) of Hazlehurst; one son Bruce Bohannon (Lisa) Bohannon of Hazlehurst; other children Aleesia Crawford (Jeffery) of Hazlehurst, Lee Miles ( Becky) of Hazlehurst, and Letisha Miles of Hazlehurst; seven grandchildren, Charles Creamer (Tonya), Brittany Bohannon, Allen Crawford ( Ashley), Chris Miles, Bradley Miles, Ben Vaughan (Amber), and Catherine Dowdy (John); eight great-grandchildren, Catlin Creamer, Cody Creamer, Hudson Crawford, Willow Black, Alex Dowdy, Haghen Dowdy, Parker Vaughan, and Bryson Vaughan. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Hilton loved to spend time with his family and cherished his antique collection of early turpentine, woodworking, farm implements, timber harvesting, and turpentine tools. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. However, his family will have many fond memories to cherish for years to come.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made in his honor to Southern Care Hospice in Vidalia, GA or Southside Baptist Church in Hazlehurst, GA.
