

Hugh graduated from Glynn Academy in 1950. After graduation he served in the US Navy from 1950 to 1954. He attended the Georgia State College after serving in the US Navy. He worked at Allied Chemical for 25 years and during that time was elected as a Glynn County Commissioner in 1971. After a life changing accident, he went on to get his real estate license and became a real estate appraiser in 1969. He was appointed to the Glynn County Board of Assessors in 1982-1995. During the last part of his varied career, he worked with his wife, Inez Tyre Leggett in operations with Medical Services of Glynn. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brunswick where he served as a deacon. Hugh dearly loved his family and in 2013 relocated to Beaufort, SC to be with his son and daughter. He loved all the many chapters of his life and in his later years loved nothing more than a day on the golf course with dearest friends and family. He was a true southern gentleman throughout his life and was loved by and will be missed by many.
Hugh was predeceased by his beloved wife Inez Tyre Leggett in 2008 and his parents George Edison Leggett and Annie Moseley Leggett, brothers Edison Leggett, George Leggett and Joseph Leggett. He is survived by his daughter Paddi Leggett Bailey, his son Hugh Donaldson Leggett, II and his husband Dustin Adams, his grandson Samuel Marion Bailey and his wife Caitlin Noll Bailey and granddaughter Shaffer Leggett Bailey. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
His family will receive friends from 10 am until 11 am on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 in Twitty Chapel, First Baptist Church Brunswick. Funeral Services will conducted at 11 am with Reverend Jim Crandall officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Park Cemetery. The family would like to express our undying thanks to Sylvia Williams. In his last year she was his constant companion and care giver. Thanks also to Crescent Hospice and Sylvia Blake with Visiting Angels, as well as Brenda Williams & Sandra Brinson. Sylvia, Brenda & Sandra were loving care givers in the truest sense during the last year of his life.
