Hugh Howell Vann

Hugh was born in Valda Ga, November 14, 1938. He attended Toombs Central High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the Army for 3 years, and then re-enlisted into the Marines at Parris Island. After discharge from the military, he came home and apprenticed under his father, Julius Vann, for barbering. He was an owner operator of Vann's Barber and Styles for 62 years.

Hugh was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather and great-great grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Nettie Vann; Sisters, Jeannie Glisson (Lee) and Linda Fay Dowdy; His son, Hugh Howell Vann, Jr.

He is survived by his loving and caring wife, Joan Vann, of 40 years; His children, Terri McClendon (Tony), Mary Beth Frazier, Joni Vann (Berry Caster), Ricky Gibbs (Jennifer), Jenny Yawn, and Lisa Vann; His grandchildren, Keith Prescott (Jenny), Andrew Poye (Jackie), Lauren Kasula (Mike), Ashley Hamilton, MacKinnon Gibbs, Perry Gibbs, and Maci Gibbs. He was also survived by 11 Great Grandchildren and 7 Great-Great Grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home of Brunswick, GA on Wednesday, January 22 at 10 AM, followed by a service at 11 AM.
