
Irene D. “Gram” Hall, 96, of St. Simons Island, died at home on February 8, 2012. Born September 13, 1915, in Southhall, England to the late Arthur T. and Dorothy E. Lowe. Mrs. Hall immigrated to Canada as a young child, and to the United States after living a few years in Saskatchewan. She was married to the late Thomas Hall in 1941 and spent most of her married life in Livonia, Michigan before moving to St. Simons Island in 1988.
In addition to raising her family, Mrs. Hall was a personal secretary to the Superintendent of Schools in Centerline MI, and an associate at J. L. Hudson company in Livonia, MI. She was a member of Rosedale Presbyterian Church also in Livonia, and her hobbies included sewing, ceramics, gardening and reading.
Mrs. Hall is survived by her children, Gregory T. (Kathy) Hall of Yucaipa, CA, Kenneth A. (Carolyn) Hall of St. Simons Island, and Dorothy E. (Frank) Kubat of St. Simons Island; and her sister, Grace L. Packer, of Monroe. MI. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Christine M. (Dan) Keil of Yucaipa, CA, Elizabeth A. (Mark) Knudsen of Rockport, MA, Stephanie M. (Ben) Bolton of Sautee, GA, Betsy A. (Chad) Albright of St. Simons Island, and Jamie (Jessica) Kubat of Birmingham, AL. Mrs. Hall is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren, three sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family expresses special appreciation to Mrs. Hall’s long time dedicated caregiver, Mrs. Joann Troup, and to the staff of the Charlton Visiting Nurses Service, and the staff of the Hospice of the Golden Isles.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 pm, Saturday, February 11th, at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. A private family memorial service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a good deed be done for someone, or a contribution to an organization of the donor’s choice.
