Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Norwich Baptist Church with Pastor Art Cyphers and J.C. Carter officiating. Interment will follow in Palmetto Cemetery with Military Honors. Cameron Houghton, Andrew Houghton, Ryan Foster, Joshua Wiggins, Michael Manning, and Jake Durden will serve as pallbearers, and David Manning and Owen Wiggins will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Lipthratt was born in Columbia, South Carolina in 1954 when his father was stationed at Fort Jackson in the United States Army. Jack graduated from Glynn Academy High Schools in Brunswick in 1973 and attended Brunswick Junior College. Over the years, Jack served the community in several organizations. He was an assistant Cub Scout Leader in the early 1970’s and an Assistant Boy Scout Leader in the 1980’s. Jack was a former member of the Brunswick Jaycees, Glynn County Civil Defense Rescue Squad, and a member of the Free Masons Brunswick Lodge 717. Jack was a charter member and Chairman of the Southeast Georgia League of the South and a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He enjoyed Confederate reenactments and participated in many memorial services and battlefield reenactments.
Jack joined the United States Army in 1975 and served as an Armor Crewman. Shortly after his Honorable discharge from the Army, he joined the Georgia Army National Guard in Brunswick and served in an Artillery Howitzer United of the 48th Bdg. Until his retirement from the military.
Jack worked at Pinova in Brunswick (formerly Hercules) for 40 years and retired as a Senior Lab Technician.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Gerri Potter Lipthratt, a brother, Ken D. Lipthratt (JoAnne); a sister, Priscilla Ulrich (John); daughter, Lisa Ann Brown (Paul); a stepson, Darrell Wiggins (Jennifer); and a stepdaughter, Amanda D. Foster (Mark); 10 Grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
