James W. Hurst III (81) died peacefully with his friend Gordon Guess by his side on Oct.6th 2014 in Brunswick, GA after a short illness. Jim was born in Bronxville, NY, served in the U.S. Army as a medic in Korea, and eventually entered the class of '58 at Northwestern University. While there Jim became life-long friends with Joe and Mary (Arlene) Hajost. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. Jim then entered the field of tourism and convention management where he became Vice President of Conventions and Visitors Bureaus in Chicago, Atlanta, and Los Angeles before retiring in 1987. Jim was preceded in death by his life-long companion Mack Widincamp. A memorial tribute will be held on Saturday, November 8th at 12:45 at the Golden Isles Marina. Mr. Hurst’s ashes will be spread in St. Simons Sound at 1:00 PM. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Edo Miller and Sons.
