

Jim was born in York, Maine on September 4, 1947 the son of the late John and Hazel Gilbeault Mick. Jim’s parents moved their family to Rhode Island when Jim was three years old and Jim resided in Rhode Island most of his life. He moved to Coastal Georgia at the age of Fifty-Three. Jim was also the devoted husband to his best friend, Nancy Watson Mick who is formerly of Hudson, North Carolina.
Jim graduated from Warwick Veterans Memorial High School in 1965. He served for two years as a tank commander in the United States Army. Jim later operated his own electrical contracting business, Mick Electric, for many years. He was highly talented in several trades and also worked in housing construction, maintence, project management, and quality assurance.
Jim loved to spend time with his family and friends. His favorite hobbies were golfing and woodworking. Jim was known for his desire to help those around him grow in knowledge most of all to make the best of life, “If I taught you something, if I made you look at life differently, and if I made you laugh then my life was well lived.”
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, John and Hazel Mick. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Watson Mick of Brunswick, GA; his beautiful daughter, Dawn McDermott (Jamie); his three grandsons, Collin, Arron, and Ryan; a sister, Joan Behmke (Peter) of Rehoboth, MA; one brother, John Mick of Amity, ME. He is also survived by his much loved extended family, Lynn Marie Whittaker of Rehoboth, MA, Peter John Behmke of New York, and Jim Behmke of Boston, MA.
The family will receive friend at 8:15 AM on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home in North Kingstown, RI. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 9:15 AM on Saturday, October 29, 2016 in the Chapel of Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home. Pastor Julie Roberts, cousin and childhood friend of Nancy Mick, will officiate the service. The interment for the immediate family will be held at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter, Rhode, Island.
Jim will be missed by all who knew and loved him. His Family will cherish his memories for years to come.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Jim’s memory to the Salvation Army.
