

James Edward Plympton, 89, of St Simons Island, departed this life Sunday, December 31, 2017 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home. Memorial services will be conducted at First Baptist Church of St Simons Island at a later date.
Born April 1, 1928 in New Castle, Pennsylvania to the late Guy and Mona T. Plympton, he was a USMC Veteran serving in the Pacific Theater during WWII. Mr. Plympton was the former owner and operator of a home repair company and had been a resident of St. Simons Island since 2016. He was a member of Frist Baptist Church of St. Simons Island, and before moving to St. Simons he held weekly bible study in nursing homes. His favorite pastime was being outdoors and walking. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Jean Peterkin.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Judy R. Plympton of St. Simons Island, four children, David Plympton of Maryland, James Edward Plympton, Jr. (Janice) of Salem, VA, Christopher Plympton (Theresa) of Winchester, KY, and Kathrine Delaware (Dave) of South Riding, VA, four stepchildren, Richard Rodgers (Nicole) of St. Simons Island, Terry Cannon (Randy) of Dog Island, FL, Kyle Rodgers of Salem, VA, and Kelly Rodgers of Union City, TN, eight grandchildren, six step grandchildren, and 17 great great grandchildren.
