James Lewis Shirley, age 95, of St. Simons Island, Georgia, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2020 while under the care of Heartland Hospice. Mr. Shirley was born in Anderson, South Carolina to the late James B. Shirley, and the late Vera Spoone Shirley and was a US Navy WWII veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Davis Shirley.
Mr. Shirley is survived by his son, James Lewis Shirley, Jr. and daughter-in-law Sandy Shirley; granddaughter Kathryn Lynn Shirley and her fiancé Jaime A. Muñoz; and dear friend Mary Frances Hines.
A graveside service is to be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2020 at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens , 5775 Frederica Rd. St. Simons Island, Georgia with Reverend Tom Jones officiating. Burial will follow the service.
