Marian “Janice” Sapp (Holland), 83, of Darien, GA, gracefully departed this world on May 8, 2024. Visitation will be held at 10 AM Monday, May 13, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Darien, GA followed by funeral services at 11 AM with Rev. Jack Peeler officiating. Burial will be at St. Andrews Cemetery.
Born August 25, 1940 in Tattnall County, Georgia to the late Barney and Ida Bell Lynn Holland, she was a graduate of Collins High School Class of 1958.
Janice, also affectionately known as Nana, was a resident of McIntosh County since the early 1960s, where she was loved by many. Janice was deeply rooted in her faith and found joy in worship and community at the First Baptist Church of Darien, where her unwavering devotion to Jesus was a guiding light, illuminating the path for those fortunate enough to know her. A devoted wife of 60 years, Janice found her greatest joy in the loving partnership she shared with her beloved Jerry. Theirs was a true love story for the ages, now immortalized in the eternal reunion they share. Her pride and joy were her children, Ricky and Lynne, as well as her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Janice served as the foundation of her family, a testament to her boundless love and warmth. Her home was a haven, where loved ones and friends could expect to share many laughs and enjoy her hearty meals, such as her renowned macaroni and cheese and chocolate cake. She welcomed all with open arms and her signature smile, and you always knew you were in a for a treat in her presence.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Sapp, her son, Ricky "T-Bone" Sapp, parents, Barney Holland and Ida Bell Lynn Holland; brothers, Harry Holland, Jamie Dale Holland, Sidney Merrell Holland and Gordon Holland; and sisters, Ina Mae Shuman and Irma Jean Purvis.
Janice is survived by her daughter Lynne Sapp, who has been her loving caretaker, five grandchildren, Sharee Copeland (Mike), Stormye Brantley (Chad), Chelsie Sapp (Jimmy), Rachel Kopp (Chris Montgomery), and Nicholas Kopp (Ariana), three great grandchildren, Camryn, Avery, and Emily, her brother Ronnie Holland of Collins, GA, sister-in-law Janice Sapp of Collins, GA, and several nieces and nephews.
Her memory will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her endless love and laughs will be carried on by her loved ones.
The family would like to recognize their deep appreciation for the Hospice of Golden Isles, Bernie Kopp, Debra Collins, Yvonne King, Libby Poppell and all the many others who contributed to the outstanding care and wellbeing of Janice.
