

Jean Winburn Sinclair Jones, 93, passed away on December 31st. She was born on June 13, 1920 to David Sinclair and Elizabeth Winburn Sinclair in Waycross, GA. A funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church St. Simons Island, 729 Ocean Blvd. 11 AM ,Saturday the 4th of January 2014 with Dr. Felix Haynes officiating . Private Interment will follow in Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens. The Deacons of the First Baptist Church St. Simons Island will be serving active pallbearers.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Ret. Major Thomas W. Jones, Jr., and her stepson, Johnny Jones.
She is survived by her sister and best friend, Mary Sinclair Stevens, her two nieces, Jean Anne Stevens Tipaldos (Andy) and Debbie Stevens Owens of Brunswick, her two great nephews, Nicholas Andreas Tipaldos of New Orleans, LA and David Sinclair Tipaldos of Brunswick, and her great niece, Elizabeth Winburn Livingston Preece (Jay) of San Antonio, TX, her great, great nephew, Evan Sinclair Tipaldos and her great, great niece, Ella Lanham Tipaldos, both of Brunswick.
She is also survived by her two stepdaughters, Nan Jones and Fran McDade (Michael), step-grandchildren, Shellie Geer (Sam), Misty Tallent (Johnny), and April Zubriski (Jacob) and step great grandchildren, Dawson Webb, Mikey Tallent, Timmy Tallent, and Kylie Zubriski, all of Martin, Georgia and Beaufort, Georgia.
Her family wants to express their appreciation to Dr. Mitchell Jones and caregivers Beverly Jaudon, Shanesia Jaudon, Shetoria Jaudon, Ann Brunswick, and Dora Johnson.
Jean was a member of St. Simons Baptist Church which her uncle, Rev. Joseph Winburn, served as the first pastor from 1938-1943.She was employed as a civilian for the United States Army at Fort McPherson, Atlanta, GA for 31 years, and retired after serving as secretary for five generals.
Jean grew up in Decatur and lived in Atlanta. When she was a child, she and her family spent their summers on St. Simons Island. She and Tom married on St. Simons Island, and they moved there in 1976.
