Leran worked as a Millwright at GP Cellulose for 39 years, retiring in 2006. He had farmed his whole life but became full-time after his retirement. He was a cattle farmer who grew blueberries and oranges, to name a few. He loved riding his tractor and burning weeds. Leran was a member of the Brunswick Church of God of Prophecy.
His parent’s, Jimmie Leran Poston, Sr., and Sarah Donnell Carter Poston; a son, Eric Scott “Ricky” Poston, Sr. and three brothers, James Edward Poston, Jerry Timothy Poston and Larry Poston preceded him in death.
Leran is survived by his wife of 61 years, Juanita Clark Poston; two children, Jimmie L. “Randy” Poston, III (Tammy) and Melissa “Missy” McSpadden (Joseph, “Mike”), all of Brunswick; two siblings, John Harris (Joan) of Brunswick and Dianne Davis (Rhett) of Eulonia; twelve grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He also leaves behind his favorite companion, Ms. Kitty, and his beloved cattle.
Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Saturday at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Harold Hands, David Poston, and Keith Burch officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Park Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Isaias Cornelio, Freeman Hodakowski, Joey McSpadden, Nick Orgill, Donnie O’Quinn, J.T. Poston, Leran Poston, Scotty Poston and Michael Ryglewski. Honorary pallbearers will be Alli, Leran’s hospice nurse, Chris Flowers, Alton Roland, Silas Spivey, and Dr. Watkins.
