Mrs. Jo Ann Thompson Deverger

Funeral service will be held 11 AM Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Darien, GA. Interment will follow the service in St. Andrews Cemetery, with Terry Guffey, Ronnie Lamb, Richie Ryals, Mike Ogden, Mark Heurter, and Tony Martin serving as active pallbearers, with close family friend Dimas Diaz officiating over the services.

Honorary pallbearers are Colen Ogden, Donald Strickland, Franklin Smith, Jerry Sapp, Lawton Woodcock, Bob Dellinger, D.L. McIntosh, Jack Vickers, Jack Bethune, Tom Gore, Tim Gore, Randy Owens, Melvin Padgett, Allen Ryals, Wayne Michael Gale, Glenn Hutchinson, and the Rainbow Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church, Darien, GA.

Family will receive friends at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home Friday, October 24, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Mrs. Deverger was born April 16, 1937 in Tift County, GA to the late J.O. Thompson and the late Louise Sumner Thompson and a lifetime resident of McIntosh County. Mrs. Deverger was owner of Jo Ann’s Flower & Gift Shoppe, and a member of the First Baptist Church and the Rainbow Sunday School Class, Darien,GA.

In addition to Mrs. Deverger’s parents she is preceded in death by her husband George Deverger, Sr. A brother, Lloyd ‘Buck’ Thompson also preceded her in death.

Survivors include her two sons George ‘Bubba’ Deverger, Jr. and wife Sheila, and Bruce E. Deverger Sr. and wife Diane, grandsons John Russell Deverger, Bruce Deverger Jr., Christopher Todd, granddaughters Heather Duncan, Heidi Barton, Melanie Todd, great-grandchildren Kate and Ethan Duncan, and Emma Measley, and two very special nieces Jonetta McDonald and Katrina Chapman. Siblings include Al Thompson, Patricia Waller, Betty Boone, Patsy Grange, Jimmy Thompson, and Jerry Thompson. Mrs. Deverger also had numerous nieces and nephews that were very important in her life.
