JoAnn M. Bobb, 85 of St. Simons Island, passed away Monday, March 31, 2025 at Marsh's Edge. A Celebration of Life will be held at Saint Simons Presbyterian Church on Monday April 7th, 2025 at 11:00am. Reception to follow.
JoAnn was born June 18, 1939 in Ellwood, Indiana to the late Gerald and Polly Mosbaugh. She was a graduate of DePauw University where she met her late husband Richard “Dick” Bobb. JoAnn was a member of Pi Beta Phi and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She married Dick Bobb on July 1, 1962. They moved to St. Simons in 1973, lived in Wimberly and eventually built a house in Island Club in 1987. In 1979, JoAnn opened a women’s apparel shop in Redfern Village named “Limited Editions” with her co-owner Linda White. Barbara Chitty and her sister, Susie Alexander co-owned and operated a shoe store named “Foot Prints” inside of Limited Editions.
JoAnn was member of St Simons Presbyterian Church, a volunteer for many organizations, including The Humane Society of South Coastal Georgia, The Island Players, The Coastal Symphony of Georgia and was a role player at FLETC. She belonged to multiple garden clubs, bridge clubs, and dining groups including the Golden Isles Chaine des Rotisseurs. JoAnn and Dick loved to entertain at their home having had a large friend group and always provided the finest food and wine. They loved to travel and meet new people. JoAnn was the life of any party with her infectious smile and exuberant energy. She loved animals, playing the piano and planting flowers in her garden.
JoAnn is survived by her sister, Susie Alexander of St. Simons Island, her niece, Polly Hyde of St. Simons (Sarah and Addison), sister in law, Sharon Mosbaugh of California (Paige and Jessica) nephew, David Bobb of Oklahoma (Rachel and Jay), niece, Jennifer Bobb Husley (Samantha), and sister in law, Anna McMillian (John) of Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Pauline Mosbaugh, her brother, William Mosbaugh and her loving husband, Dick Bobb.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the charity most close to JoAnn’s heart, The Humane Society of South Coastal Georgia.
