Karen Ann Simpson, 74, of St. Simons Island, departed this life January 19, 2017 at SGHS Glynn. Funeral services will be held at 2PM Thursday, January 26, 2017 at The Abbey Chapel in Westview Cemetery, Atlanta, Georgia.
Born March 8, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Wilbert P. and Naomi J. Thomas. Mrs. Simpson was a homemaker and had been a resident of St. Simons Island for the past 25 years. She was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church, and enjoyed baking, spending time with her grandchildren, and caring for her beloved husband.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Dan Simpson of St. Simons Island, 3 children, Steven Simpson and wife Claire of Marietta, Beverly Simpson of Johns Creek, and Dr. Sheryl Simpson – Jones and husband Thomas Ellis of McDonough, 4 grandchildren, Christopher Jones, Connor Jones, Thomas Simpson, and Danielle Simpson, a brother, Robert Thomas and wife Maria of Shererville, IN, and a sister Joan Burgholtzer and husband Richard of Dyer, IN.
