

On April 19, 2012, heaven received another angel, Linwood Salter, who was affectionately known as ‘Lin’ by his family and friends. He passed away at St. Vincent Memorial Hospital In Jacksonville. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2012, in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Dawn Mayes officiating. Entombment will follow in Brunswick Memorial Park. Mr. Salter was born on March 31, 1936, in Beaufort, N.C., and graduated from Atlantic High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force, worked in auto and marine business, was the former owner of Salter’s Marine and retired from the State of Georgia. His travels with Merchant Marine brought him to Brunswick, where he met his soulmate and wife of 52 years, Mary Greenfield Salter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Gladys Salter of Atlantic, N.C.; a grandson, Scott Jackson; and a nephew, Johnny Salter. He is survived by his wife, Mary; three sons, James T. Jackson (Sandra), Terry R. Jackson (Tean) of Brunswick, Larry H. Jackson (Linda) of McDonough; two grandsons, Ellette Jackson (Sharon) and Terrance Jackson (Debbie) of Brunswick; five granddaughters, Tammy Hamilton (Tommy) of Acworth, Wendy Erwin (Glenn) of Hoschton, Cindy Williams (Darrell) of Acworth, Sandy Smith (Russell) of Kennesaw, Ginni Jackson of Kennesaw; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Dallas Salter of Atlantic, N.C.; a sister, Joyce Salter Judd of Morehead, N.C.; two nephews, Neal Salter of Atlantic, N.C., and Danny Salter of Newark, Del.; one niece, Angela Salter of Wilmington, N.C. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 717 and had been a member of the local Brunswick Shrine Club. He loved fishing, his family, his friends, but most of all his wife, Mary, to whom he was very devoted. Lin was our rock, he will be greatly missed and our hearts ache.
