

Louise Davis Gentile, 95, of St. Simons Island, died Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home on St. Simons Island. Graveside funeral services as per Mrs. Gentiles wishes will be held at 4PM Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Christ Church Cemetery with Mother Becky Rowell officiating.
Born May 21, 1922 in Offerman , Georgia to the late Doss Davis and Azzlee Davis Roberson. After graduation from high School she became a educator teaching in Offerman Schools for two years. She then moved to Brunswick, for work and met her former husband, the late Bennie Gentile. Together they built and opened Bennies Red Barn in 1954. In later years she kept children and was known as “Granny Lou” to many children and adults. Mrs. Gentile was a member of Christ Church Frederica since 1957, she was a charter member of St. Simons Cotillion, was a former Boy Scout Troop Leader, and Charter Member of Frederic Cousins Guild. She had been a resident of St. Simons Island for 76 years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Donya M. Strickland, Daughter In Law, Denise Gentile, and two brothers, E.Y. Roberson and Harvey Lee Davis.
Survivors include her children, Don B. Gentile of St. Simons Island, Diana M. Gentile of Etowah, TN, two granddaughters, Jennifer P. Gentile, and Alice G. Paolini (Chris), two grandsons, Mat Vinyard and Ben Vinyard, great granddaughter Gray Paolini, and two great grandsons, Benjamin Doss Lee, and Ronald E. Lee, III (Tripp), and her longtime companion Riley Tyre of St. Simons Island.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Farm at Oatland North, 70 Cannons Pointe, St. Simons Island, GA 31522, a charity organization that provides sanctuary for rescued farm animals.
