Lynne Haseltine Baenziger

St. Marys, GA – Lynne H. Baenziger, age 88 died May 28th, 2023. Lynne was born May 24th, 1935 in Evanston, IL. Lynne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. Lynne led a blessed life and traveled the world with her husband Ray Baenziger of 52 years, the love of her life. They made trips to almost every island in the Caribbean plus Canada, Mexico, U.K., Europe, Eastern Europe, China, Asia, Egypt, India, Africa, Morocco, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Chile, Argentina - with many more stops in between. Their last worldly adventure was a Cruise thru the Panama Canal when Lynne was 81 and Ray was 89. They enjoyed homes together in Northbrook, IL – Darien, CT – Flat Rock, NC, Middleton, WI and Waunakee, WI. Lynne moved to St. Marys, GA recently to be close to family.

Lynne attended New Trier High School (Winnetka, IL) and graduated from Miami of Ohio University (Oxford, OH).

Lynne was a stay-at-home mother and supported Ray’s successful career in the Printing Industry. Lynne had many passions and interests including tennis, gardening, bridge, reading books (attending book clubs) and attending her grandchildren’s sporting and musical activities. She was a lover of the outdoors, a lifelong & curious learner, and proud owner of pet dogs and cats throughout her life. Lynne was a Girl Scout Troop Leader, member of her church choir and led the Youth Group along with her husband while a member of St. James the Less in Northfield, IL. After Ray retired, they moved to Flat Rock, NC where she remained active in the Episcopal Church and volunteered in her community. Lynne and her husband were huge supporters of the arts, attending theater and musical concerts wherever they lived.

Lynne leaves behind a legacy of devotion to her family. She is survived by her children: Steven K. (Susan) Johnson of Sister Bay, WI: Holly (Steve) Shilling of Fort Collins, CO, Cindy (Dave) Moen of St. Marys, GA and Stepson and Stepdaughter Bill Baenziger of Colorado Springs, CO and Nancy Baenziger of Livingston Manor, NY. Many loving grandchildren: Alison, Carolyn and Bradley Shrake, Ian (Abbey) Johnson and Samuel (Madeline) Johnson, Courtney and Alex Moen, and Clayton Baenziger. Lynne was predeceased by her husband Raymond M. Baenziger, her parents Donald Moore Haseltine and Carol Genevieve Whitman Haseltine and sister June Rascher.

The Family of Lynne would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the doctors, nurses and caregivers that helped her through her end-of-life period. Lynne will be greatly missed and leaves behind a legacy of love following a life fully lived!

A private Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at a later date.
