

Marion Willis Moore, 79, devoted husband, father, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025, at Hospice of the Golden Isles. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 2 pm on Saturday August 9, 2025 at Wesley Church at Frederica.
A resident of St. Simons Island since 1978, Marion was raised in Waycross, Georgia, the second son of Melvin and Ollie Mae Moore.
After high school, Marion served with distinction in the Vietnam War, a period that shaped his profound character. During his tour serving with the Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, Marion demonstrated exceptional bravery, for which he was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in combat. Dedication to service was a hallmark of Marion's character, and his commitment to his country was immense.
Upon returning to the US, Marion completed his education at Georgia Southern College in Statesboro. Between 1972 and 1975, he earned a BA in Sociology, a Master's in School Psychometry, an Ed.S. in School Psychology, and an Ed.S. in School Administration.
By 1977, Marion was a young stockbroker with Merrill Lynch in Savannah. He and a colleague opened the first Merrill Lynch office in Glynn County in 1979. Moving his family from Savannah to St. Simons Island, Marion became an active member of the community. From coaching Little League to serving as President of the Rotary Club, Marion made a difference through his unique ability to connect with others. His knack for storytelling typically ended with his big, infectious laugh, bringing joy and warmth to every room. After his retirement in 2023, he concluded a career spanning more than forty years in Wealth Management. Marion leaves behind a legacy of courage, love, and unwavering loyalty.
Marion is survived by his wife of thirty-one years, Teri Moore.

Marion was known as Papa and Pop to 16 adoring grandchildren and eight precious great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be Saturday, August 9, 2025, 2:00 pm at Wesley Church at Frederica, 6520 Frederica Road, St Simons Island, Georgia.
