August 10, 1948 – September 29, 2025
Marvin Robert (Skip) Eggleston, a lifelong resident of Brunswick, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on September 29, 2025, at the age of 77. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elaine.
Born on August 10, 1948, in Brunswick, Skip was a proud graduate of Glynn Academy, Class of 1966. Shortly after graduation, he answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Marine Corps, where he served with honor from 1966 to 1972. His commitment to service continued through his careers with the Georgia Air National Guard and as a civil servant at Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base until his retirement.
Skip was a man of deep principle and unwavering character. He was a Past Worshipful Master of Ocean Lodge #214 and a dedicated DeMolay advisor, mentoring many young men over the years with compassion and integrity.
He is survived by his loving children: son William “Sarge” Eggleston, daughters Dr. Rachel Higginbotham (Ralph), Christina Whisenant, and Rebecca Lennard, as well as several stepchildren. He also leaves behind his cherished sister Gale McDaniel, seven grandchildren (Michael), nieces, and numerous great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Those who knew Skip will remember him as kind, decent, loyal, and loving. He had a warm smile, an easy laugh, and a heart full of generosity. A good man died today — and the world is better for having had him in it. He loved deeply and was deeply loved in return. He will be missed beyond measure.
A visitation for Skip will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, 3321 Glynn Avenue, Brunswick, GA 31520, followed by a Celebration of Life at 10:30 AM. A private interment will take place at a later date.
Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home have been entrusted with final arrangements.
