She was reared in Norfolk, Virginia and graduated from Sweetbriar College, Class of 1968. She received a PhD in Physical Chemistry from Iowa State University, proud to be an early female scientist. She worked at The Department of Energy for most of her professional career, living in Gaithersburg, MD.
After retirement from the U.S. Government, she moved to St. Simons, Georgia where she lived happily, enjoying the beach, bridge, golf, and other local activities. She was an active member of The Newcomers’ Club and then The Shorebirds, socializing until she was disabled by Parkinson’s Disease. She spent her final year at Addington Place in Brunswick, GA.
She is survived by two sisters, one nephew and two nieces.
Mary’s Memorial Service will take place at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick, GA on April 27, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
